System primer / first training session

How to Play

Start with one movement decision, one Energy conversion, and one support variation. This primer explains the published system jobs without pretending to replace the in-game tutorial.

01 / Match shape

A 1v1 fighter with variations

Avatar Legends is a one-on-one fighting game rather than a full tag-team format. You choose one playable fighter, then pair that fighter with one of three character-specific support options. The main remains on screen; the support choice changes how the toolkit expresses its strengths.

The published controls are designed to be approachable, but the deeper game asks you to coordinate movement, resource gain, enhanced specials, Super Arts, and character-specific variation. That makes “easy to start” compatible with a technical competitive layer.

02 / Movement resource

Use Flow to change position

FLOWDash · evade · outmaneuver

The official description ties Flow to high-speed mobility. Treat it as a decision budget: spend it to improve position or escape a bad lane, not only because movement is available.

A useful first drill is to repeat one safe approach, one retreat, and one side-switch or escape until you can tell why each spend helped. A movement system becomes noise when every option is used at once; it becomes pressure when each spend answers a visible problem.

03 / Conversion resource

Build Energy Points through skilled play

ENERGY POINTSEnhanced specials · Super Arts

The official feature description connects Energy gain to stronger special moves and cinematic Super Arts that can swing a match.

For a first session, choose one dependable way to spend Energy instead of saving indefinitely or using it at the first opportunity. Ask whether the spend increased damage, secured position, ended a round, or protected a lead. That question is more portable than memorizing a launch-week combo list.

04 / Character variation

Pick one of three supports

Every launch fighter has three named support choices, for 36 roster-wide options. Most published supports change move properties or provide passive strategic variation. Zaheer is the important exception in the launch support guide: P’Li, Ming-Hua, and Ghazan act as active assists.

  1. Keep the main fixed. Learn the fighter’s base route before evaluating all three variations.
  2. Change one support. Repeat the same situations and note what becomes easier or safer.
  3. Choose for a job. Prefer a clear purpose—approach, pressure, defense, or conversion—over an unsupported universal “best.”

05 / Thirty-minute route

Your first focused training session

  1. Five minutes: movement. Walk, jump, and test one Flow approach plus one Flow escape.
  2. Five minutes: reach. Find one quick close button, one reliable midrange button, and one anti-air response.
  3. Ten minutes: conversion. Build one short sequence into an enhanced special or stable finish.
  4. Five minutes: support. Test one support choice in the exact situation it is meant to improve.
  5. Five minutes: live constraint. Play a match while deliberately watching one resource instead of trying to remember everything.
Choosing a main? Start with the roster’s playstyle and entry filters. The dated tier signal page is secondary evidence, not a substitute for fit.
